Britain it seems needs its very own Pied Piper to rid it of its rats. The brown rat population has increased by 39% in 12 months and Londoners are now estimated never to be further than 14 metres from a rat. Various reasons are attributed by the National Pest Technicians Association, from fortnightly collection of rubbish to composters and bird tables. Whatever the reason they pose a threat to public health and I for one will be going out to buy a composter with a bottom making it impossible for my furry friends to burrow up and help themselves to a ready supply of food.
