Poor Kate Middleton, waking up on her 25th birthday to find that the media scrum outside her flat was even bigger than normal. It is only to be expected that the girlfriend of a future king is going to attract media attention but this has gone far beyond that. She is being pursued relentlessly by photographers in blacked out vans and on motor bikes as she drives to work and some have even started taunting her in a bid to to ruffle her normal poise and control. She is not part of the Royal family and so cannot be provided with police protection but they presumably have the means to provide private protection, just as Camilla was prior to her marriage to Price Charles. Surely something has been learned from Diana’s experiences with the paparazzi and something should be done to make Miss Middleton’s daily routine more tolerable.
