Splashing out at the The Diner des Tsars

Black tie is easy; smart casual means more decisions. Imperial elegance though - what on earth would you wear if that were the dress code? Well I don’t suppose the guests at this particular bash will have tooo much trouble finding something suitable. You would have to be pretty well-heeled to be going in the first place with tickets costing £1500 each. The Diner des Tsars is being held in London’s Guildhall and is a recreation of a feast held by Tsar Alexander II in Paris in 1867. An eight course banquet will be prepared by a Michelin starred chef and just in case you thought the ticket price included drinks I’m afraid it doesn’t. Cristal champagne will be on sale for £1200 a jeroboam. In case reading this is bringing out the Marxist in you, rest assured that it is all in aid of charity!

Would like to clarify that the Diner des Tsars - to be held on 29th March, is being held to raise funds for Unicef.. Far from charging £1200 a jereboam, Champagne Louis Roederer has actually donated all the champagnes ( including the jeroboams of Cristal, and magnums of Brut Vintage 2000) for the event. They have also donated the jeroboam of which you speak in the hope that it will raise significant funds during the auction for the which will support Unicef’s work.
