Chief of police punishes himself for committing a traffic offence

Last week the chief of police in Milwaukee, Dick Knoebel, hit the headlines when he punished a driver for failing to stop when a school bus displayed the Stop sign. As anyone who has driven in America will know, safety around school buses is taken extremely seriously and the chief of police was only doing his job. The punishment was appropriate for the crime: four points on the licence and a fine of $235, so why all the fuss? Well the offending driver was Knoebel himself! Bizzare though it may seem this is not an April fool although Knoebel does sound a bit too good to be true.
