daffodilAccording to a poll conducted by the Chelsea Flower Show in 2006, the nation’s favourite flower is the rose. Runners up were the sweet pea and the iris. All lovely blooms, but I have to admit I’m more a springtime flower fan. There’s something especially encouraging about seeing snowdrops poking their heads above ground in February, and a carpet of cyclamen definitely lifts your spirits on a grey, end-of-winter day.
