Sewage leaks into the Forth

Having lived in Edinburgh until I was 15 I still have a very soft spot for the city and in fact we have a time-share up there which we love. I was therefore very sad to see yesterday that millions of litres of untreated sewage have leaked into the Forth – sadder still to see that one of my favourite spots for walking – Cramond – has been affected. The catastrophe happened after a pump failed at the Seafield waste-water treatment plant. The problem turned out to be more difficult to fix than first thought although the leak should be sorted today. Meanwhile enquiries are being called for. Let’s hope that it is not too long before the local residents and tourists alike can again enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Firth of Forth.
