Astronomers have recently discovered a planet which they claim is the most Earth-like planet outside the solar system to date, one which could even have water running on its surface. The planet is 20.5 light-years away in the constellation of Libra and it is slightly larger than Earth, with models predicting that it is either rocky or covered with water. Scientists are excited that because of the similarities to our own world, it could even harbour life. I think it’s quite incredible, but I suppose we must remember that due to the millions of unique freak occurrences that occurred on Earth in order to create conscious human life in the first place, maybe our hopes shouldn’t be so high.
