13913_walking_man.jpgA study conducted over 32 countries has concluded that the walking speed of city dwellers has on average become 10% faster in the last decade. Interestingly, the statistics showed that men are generally 25 per cent quicker on their feet than women. It also showed that people were in the greatest hurry in Singapore followed by those in the fast-paced cities of Madrid and Copenhagen. London lagged far behind by being only 12th on the list. I think the findings are interesting because the results could have gone either way. Sure, life has got a lot “faster” over the last decade, but at the same time, I would have thought that more people seem to use transport nowadays so perhaps they wouldn’t be able to walk as fast. But there you go!
