Gender test now possible just six weeks after conception

Women can now check the gender of their unborn child only six weeks into pregnancy. A new testing kit by DNA Worldwide is being sold online for the large sum of £189.95 which contains everything required, enabling the mother to return a sample of her blood and hear back within a few working days. I think this is very worrying and yet another example of science potentially being abused. It could mean that those who have no problem with abortion can easily decide which gender child they want to keep and which to throw away like a bad egg. I know this is particularly the case in various Muslim families where having a baby boy is much preferred to having a girl. The new scheme is dangerous for that very matter. I mean, isn’t it a bit odd that someone would pay almost £200 to check their baby’s gender if it was purely for curiosity purposes?
